in general would anyone care to share some stories about how they out themselves to people that don't generally know what gender queer is. i would like to here from both folks who's GQ-ness is "invisible" as well as those who are read as GQ because of how they appear physically.
also, stratagies for dealing with folks who get angry and cruel when they they feel confused because you don't fit into a gender binary?
I had a bathroom incident today that left me feeling a little shook (realizing that it was a tip of an iceburg of violences people experience) and i could use a little love and some posi stories......
thanks.

Re: being "out" about being gender queer
Thu, August 21, 2008 - 3:23 PMI am an advisor or CIGSYA,(Cape and Islands Gay/Straight Youth Alliance) in Massachusetts. That is something that one of our group meetings delves a lot into. A lot of the youth now are designating themselves as Gender Queer or like myself Gender Fluid. It has been amazing to see so many youth create their own labels and apply new identities besides the LGBT.
