This is a great book about gender roles and how they are used to keep sexual minorities and women in place.
Written by Susan Lipsitz Bem- theorist on sex and gender-
Great for all of us that dont fall into available categories given to us by society-how its perceptions are shaped.
Why are there categories?

If I remember correctly, she had many nasty things to say about trans women.

So, her gender theory ain't so great.

Unless bashing trans women is "great."

I actually know a lot of transwomen, some good friends so- no I dont agree with all of it- but the questions she brings up-and how unaware society is about how we are treated because
of being considered outside the norm- what ever that is supposed to be- makes it worth reading-no one has to agree with any of it.
